I’m Julie, a Holistic Nutritionist and private cook. I obtained a Certificate in Nutrition and Healthy Living online through Cornell University and have since continued my studies with a focus on the Mediterranean diet and other cultures who exemplify good health.
I was drawn towards the traditional Mediterranean diet and lifestyle because it focuses on overall health and wellbeing while enjoying life. Achieving your fitness goals and losing weight are a natural result of daily practices and dietary choices that celebrate eating and cooking nutritious, affordable meals reminiscent of a summer holiday.
My focus is divided into two main areas. The first is deep research into the traditional Mediterranean lifestyle. With popularity that has lasted decades, there’s no shortage of information on the Mediterranean diet. However, I find a lot of inconsistencies between what I study in articles and books and what this traditional UNESCO recognized diet is actually about. I delve into this on my Substack, where my goal is to draw parallels between how things were in the past and how to apply these practices to our busy lives today, especially in a North American city.
My second area of focus is helping clients build the habits I’ve mentioned above and live a long and healthy life looking and feeling their best. I do this through one-on-one consulting and meal planning virtually anywhere, and food shopping assistance and cooking locally in Toronto. I’m also available for private events and functions, where I put years of restaurant and catering experience to good use with health focused menu writing and visually alluring, flavourful dishes.
